Jewelry designer, Raja Destremau was born on April 3rd, 1971 in Abu-Dhabi (U.A.E) from a Syrian father & a Palestinian mother. As a young girl, her mother ''Nema" whom she calls her biggest influence, taught her how to combine colors together in clothing, food, furniture..etc
After finishing high school, she worked for a French company, where she met her husband Axel. Since that day, the extended family did not stop moving from a continent to another (Latin America, Europe, Africa, and North America). That gave her the chance to speak 5 languages today.
The first necklace that Raja has designed was for her and never met to be for sale. Her first taste of accessories success came from a necklace she designed to match with a neutral colored skirt. In response to the many people who asked about where she got the necklace, she offered to make one for them.
In 2003, she participated in her first art exhibition in a very modest Angolan gallery.
In 2005, she moved again with her family to Houston (U.S), where her jewelry designs adopted a completely different path towards modern & light designs.
Her signature jewelry includes mainly: 925 Sterling Silver, hand made charms, bright colors, layered necklaces, bows, buttons, ribbons, wool, gems, & crystals.
She currently lives in Houston with her husband and 3 adorable kids. She organizes jewelry shows every now & then in the Houston area.
Raja is very thankful to lots of her friends who always supported her through her journey towards jewelry creations. |
