For the many years that I have been building art installations they have been alone. When I do collaborate I do so with Carole Beller. She is also an artist highly competent in all phases of this process. We built the largest instillation piece “Bear Wet Falls” back in 2001.(see yessy gallery) More recently we built a baptismal font for a catholic church in Incline Village, NV.
She along with my son Darrit and other volunteers will help build this ambitious project. We are developing a rather large throng of people that want to see Flight Stone manifested for Burning Man. We have theme camp people to get the camp together whom I might add are veteran Burners of 12 years plus. We will also have a crew to transport Flight to the playa and assemble it for its stay at BRC. It will be a moving piece of art. Everything it comes with, it will leave with. It must be noted that this is a grass roots under taking, so there are some unknowns. Its economic structure is somewhat ambiguous; it is one step forward. It’s much like my personal idioms of commit and move forward, things come in when needed. I might point out that a sense of responsibility is always present. I don’t expect this to come off without a plan. Like all my commissions they must have a plan and always do. I always leave room for tangents that are relatable. We already have the concept and physical renderings accomplished. So now it is simply a matter of implementing the process of getting it built. For this Artist that’s why I’m here, to do the Art; my default position as a human being and seeker of sustainable bliss.
I hope this satisfies Items 6,7and 8 on your proposal requirements. I do understand the spirit and practical essence of these requirements and take none of them lightly. I believe Burning Man to be an incredible place to exercise the expression of freedom through art and personal integrity. Radical self reliance……..GOT IT
