Project description
Dan Jones

This will be a mobile piece of Art. It will be 33ft. long – 8ft wide + extensions at the widest point- it’s tallest point will be about 8ft. All dimensions are organic so these reflect largest points. The images of the model explain what it looks like. The model is approx. 1-1/2 = a foot. So I’ll stick to its structural design here.
We are planning on getting a heavy duty flat bed V8 truck or diesel in good condition. We will then strip it down to its fundamental essence and build from there. The armature will be channel stock and re-bar 3/8 to ½ inch. The re-bar will be attached to the truck and channel stock. All intersections of the re-bar will be welded. There will be many sections to allow access to doors, compartments and wheels. These sections are still being designed pending vehicle choice. The pieces will all come apart and puzzle together on its back for transportation. Upon arrival at the chosen destination, be re- assembled, and bolted together. After re-bar comes the metal lath. It will be secured to the re-bar grid with tie wire. Then a scratch coat of polymer modified cement will be applied. In some areas an AB foam will be used instead of the cement, when a part or section needs to be lighter. During this time lighting will be built in along with a generator, sound system, solar lighting and a closed circuit navigation system. In order to get its look and feel there can’t be a windshield. So a video camera will be set into the front, back and sides. There will be a monitor inside the cab, to view what’s going on outside for navigation. After all equipment and lights are added, the finale sculpture coat of polymer cement will go on, along with coloration. When the sculpture coat dries it will be painted and sealed.
