Bear Wet Falls
Dan Jones
This, the largest of all projects, was a collaboration between myself and Carole Beller. Together we built it in 12 months. The home, a 15,000. sq.ft. mountain retreat located high above Lake Tahoe, affords wonderful views of the lake and it's sunsets from this indoor sculpture in the swimming pool area. Its function, other then aesthetic, is as a spa and waterfall. The trees, as well as all other forms, are Polymer modified cement covered armatures. The roughs of the armatures were constructed off site and then reassembled on site. It was built from the top down, the top being 25 feet. The mural was painted first. All armatures were fastened to pre-installed steel brackets attached to the framing. The tanks for the four ponds are made from fiberglass with the rock forms built into them. The pump is 60ft. away in the mechanical room.
