------------------------------------
Art Revolutions – a Neo Renaissance Resurrection by Darwin Leon opening reception on May 15, 2007 at Palm Beach Community College gallery was a total success.
The great response from the Palm Beach community as well from students at the current college, art collectors, the press, and friends made this exhibition an event to remember.
Darwin Leon was born in 1972 in Santiago de las Vegas, a small town in Havana, Cuba. The diverse exhibition showing a retrospective of the artist’s work for the last three years incorporated twenty paintings and thirty six drawings. The purpose of the exhibition is supported by the artist idea of revising modern and contemporary modes of art expressions emphasizing classical and conventional techniques in paintings and drawings.
As a central obvious foundation based on surrealist iconography, Darwin Leon explores surreality in almost all of his paintings and drawings. Symbolism and hidden messages are part of this intriguing exhibition. The exhibit is a reflection of art history from the Greeks to the Renaissance with essential elements in art of academic significance.
The human figure as the most vital aspect in the exhibition is discovered in all kind of art expressions from a highly academically traditional painting to cubist abstract forms and gesture painting. The exhibit also highlights important contemporary issues on today’s society such as political, religious, and social conflicts.
The ongoing exhibition will run thru September 4th with a closing reception from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m with fresh new artwork. The artist will speak at 6:45 p.m.
