Frosty Dawn - River Wye at Rowsley
David Lewis Baker
The Wye is a tributory of the river Derwent which it joins just south of Rowsley Mill in central Derbyshire, This was taken in March 2006, at dawn as the frost lay thick on the ground. There was an etherial quality to this scene which I believe is captured in the piece. The use of the diagonal branch to cut the scene is based on an ancient Japanese theory of composition which was also adopted by Van Gogh.
