Raised in St. Louis, I've always been creative. Following my time studying art at Maryville University, my career path deviated slightly to accommodate a husband and subsequent nine children. The task of raising them made it difficult to have a traditional studio. Therefore I assumed that my kids would be grown before I'd have the opportunity to get back to being an artist.
A few years ago when the PC made its debut, I discovered a brand new medium - digital art - and love the variety of results that I can by just playing with different programs. My favorite is Photoshop because the blank screen is just like an empty canvas, only better. The pure pleasure of not having to wait for paint to dry has excelerated my return to the world of art.
Many different subjects and styles make up my database of artwork. It's important to me not to let my artwork become predictable. Sometimes I begin with one of my digital photographs, where manipulating them to look like paintings is so incredibly fun.
My most satisfying work, however, is completely original. When I begin a piece, I rarely know where I'm going with it, and sometimes surprise myself with the results.
Digital art will always provide a learning experience for me and hopefully my humble offerings will be a source of enjoyment for you.
Your critiques are always welcome, good or bad. I hope to hear from you. |
