Interruption
Helena Tiainen
Poet Jim Larwill from Ottawa, Canada, wrote the following beautiful poem inspired by this drawing. You can purchase "Moonflower" - a booklet of five drawings and poems which contains "Interruption", the drawing and the poem.
Interruption
Reaching out in the night, grasping for more than a blank surface,
hand pressing against cold pattern of a wall, closed from the sky,
we seek redemption in energies beyond the touching we can find.
Totems carved on the end of each finger-tip betrays the destiny of
those who would dance in another world: one moment in knowing
overflows with burred scratches of next; forgotten as remembered.
Here, yet; not here. Tremble, my darling I am touching you. Again.
This is the way it all begins. And this way, of ours; also, it all ends.
Petals tear each sudden footstep; breathe now flowering with release.
