Hands Helena Tiainen
This is a pencil drawing of my left hand in several different positions all drawn on one sheet of paper. This drawing is not for sale but you can contact me for something similar or to obtain this drawing in print format.
Poet Jim Larwill from Ottawa, Canada, wrote the following beautiful poem inspired by this drawing. You can purchase "Moonflower" - a booklet of five drawings and poems which contains "Hands", the drawing and the poem.
Hands
Spirit lines engrave her Shaman hand:
parchment skin drawing out old story,
spearing shadows with a lover’s touch.
Image spoken alive with woven word
draws more than meets an artist’s eye,
sky dark laughter cackles distant time.
Night howler wings fly in finger fire
sings Raven chant of hunter’s dream,
dances a bison herd in curl of a palm.
Manifest threads echo upon this trail,
twisting leaves of a traveller’s wind:
what drew; then drawn; now draws.
