 Welcome to my art gallery-I hope you have as much fun viewing my art work as I did painting it. Some of my art work is done with body parts.
My mind is in constant motion-always thinking of different ways to paint. It is my passion-forget housework,cooking,laundry,husband and dog(just kidding)
I get so involved with my art work that I totally forget about time-what seems to be only 30 min. turns out to be 3 hours. I paint by classical music which puts me in a relaxed state of mind and body.
I started painting when I was fourteen years old. My older brother gave me a oil painting set and some canvas. My creativity just poured out-A gift from God that I didn't know I had.
I was self-taught for many years but recently have been studying under JD Keel, a well known artist here in Texas. When I married for the first time (I call it my other life),my signature was JCole on my paintings-that is why you see that name on some of my older work-trust me-we are the same person.
My art went on the back burner for many years, as I was busy raising 2 children. It wasn't until my children were in their teens that I started back-This time painting murals. A friend and I painted murals around swimming pools and inside business places.
When I remarried I decided to devote all my time to my wonderful new husband, so my painting went on the back burner again. We traveled all over the world-Russia, Switzerland, Hong Kong and many more European Countries. But all fun and games stop eventually-Husbands loose jobs, Grand-kids start arriving(an you babysit),but you know-home is really the best place to be.
I started back with my painting 3 years ago-after being away from painting for so long I thought I would have forgotten everything, but it seems like I have come back with greater ability-This is why I know it is truly a gift from God.
I have won many awards and my paintings hang in many Texas homes, but I need more exposure and that is why I am trying the Internet. I am also a member of the Odessa Art Association,Council for the Odessa Arts and Humanities and recently became a member of Cambridge Who's Who among Professional women. In 2005 I presented MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers) with a Mixed Media Art Collage tittled "Shattered Dreams". It is made up of pieces of broken beer bottles and broken car mirror-depicting what can happen to your dreams when you drink and drive. It now hangs in the Permian Basin Office of MADD here in Odessa. I am in the process of creating a piece of art work for the American Cancer Society.
I have recently taken up photography-I must come by it naturally-My father was a amateur photographer, but should have gone into it professionally-he studied and read every book that there was on photography. My brother(Nick Authement) is a professional and has traveled the world taking pictures-he has had many photo's featured in magazines. My hope is that I can be just as half as good as these two men.
God has been so good to me that 10% of my sales from my Breast Art will go to the American Cancer Society and 10% of my sales from my other art work will go to support my church.
