‘Celtic Farm Sunrise’ (prints)
Maureen W. Clifton
Original & Full Title at bottom reads: ‘Awaken… Praises Be to God for Each Day & Rejoice in Being Alive!’ It has my signature & the date I created it: December 29, 2008.
Thank you for visiting my Yessy Art Gallery! Please consider purchasing my art. Any ‘Intuitive Fine Art’ &/or ‘Medieval Arts Misty Isles’ items SOLD on Yessy will have a percentage of said Sale Donated to a Charity. Please see my BIO for details, Item details herein & please see additional views.
This art item is a different medium from my usual, though it is not foreign to me. It was drawn with Metallic Crayons & came to me intuitively when I was coloring with my granddaughter, who loved it. I finished it in a half hour, a pittance of time compared to my Needlepoint Art! However, I have done many crayon drawings.
It depicts a ‘Celtic Farm Sunrise’ & could be anywhere in the British Isles, Scotland, England, Wales or Ireland. The Cairins* (low rock walls) are seen between fields and the dots in some fields are sheep. The Sunrise is bright & cheery. Its ‘Decorator Clouds’ spectacular!
The original is ‘light’ & seen herein in its frame which reminded me of old barn wood (somewhat). When I scanned it on my old printer, it made it real dark, which gave it another look altogether. I like them both, so included the light and darker version for everyone to view.
The original drawing’s size is 5 inches high by 7 inches wide.
A Numbered Print of a Limited Edition of 25 & will be in the original color. Print size: 4.5 x 6.5 inches with .5 edge reveal. Item will be sold in Numeric Sequence, Signed & Unframed.
Priced reasonably for today’s economy.
*To learn more Cairins, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cairn or simply stated from another source is – ‘Cairn: Derived from the Gaelic word ‘carn’ meaning ‘a heap or pile of stones.’ Cairns may contain a tomb or chamber. Cairns over passage tombs may be dome-shaped. There are other forms of cairns, such as those in trapezoidal or round shapes surrounding court tombs or wedge tombs. Dated primarily from the Neolithic Period and Early Bronze Age (Circa 4000 BC– 600 AD).’ From: www.megalithicireland.com/Glossary.html
To this glossary notation I would add, “Cairins are the low rock walls between fields which are from clearing ‘fields of rocks’ for farming, pastures and ‘fields of gold’ (barley, etc.). The rocks were left behind when volcano eruptions shaped the British Isles.”
