The personal insignia on the engine cowl of my Dad’s P-47 Thunderbolt [ fighter plane] during World War II . Over 200 combat missions he was awarded Decorations including the Air Medal with 22 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Distinguished Flying Cross with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, 3 Theater Of Operations Ribbons, 3 Presidential Distinguished Unit Citations and the French Croix De Guerre with Silver Star. He was credited with 21 bridges destroyed and considered the top Bridge Buster of the 9th Air Force.
Superstitious Aloysious - " good luck charm with his turned up toes, crossed fingers, horse shoe, wish bone, rabbits foot around his neck, crossed eyes, pointed ears and four leaf clover on his hat."
This is a print of the original vintage photo. The printed image measures 8x10.5 on 8.5x11 paper leaving a border for easy framing.
The paper is archival quality 65 lbs, cotton matte finish, ivory colored [ off white ] and adds to the vintage look and feel of the image.
Prints are signed and dated on the back.
The print frames nicely in a standard 11x14 mat and frame, mat with an 8x10 opening. The framed example is to show how nice the final appearance is.
