A lifelong resident of rural West Virginia, Rhea Knight has always felt drawn to the wilderness, and this love of wild places reveals itself in her artwork. An avid hiker and backpacker, Rhea gains inspiration for her landscape and wildlife paintings through backcountry travels in her native Appalachia and throughout the American West. The majority of her subjects contain little or no sign of man. Preferring to focus on the natural world, she hopes to convey not only the beauty, but also the sense of peace and renewal that are an intrinsic part of the wilderness experience. She is an award winning, self-taught artist whose work has been selected for exhibit in national and international juried shows, including the prestigious Arts for the Parks Top 100, a yearlong national tour celebrating America’s National Park System. Rhea is a signature member of both the National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society and the National Society of Artists. She is represented by the David L. Dickirson Fine Art Gallery at Tamarack “The Best of West Virginia” in Beckley, West Virginia. |
