The idea for this workshop came from the handwritten love letters form my father to my mother. I thought, what is our generation going to preserve as symbols for love? E-mails? So how fun would it be to create a piece of art for our beloved that is handmade. As I worked on my own piece I realized that there are many handwritten love letters to be made. Love letters to our significant other, our selves, a family member, friend or someone who has passed. We even can create a love letter which honors our spiritual path or something we just love to do.
Mostly we will be painting but I do invite you to think about a few words, a sentence, a poem or a few symbols that have meaning for you to incorporate into your artwork.
I took my inspiration for this painting from Elisabeth Barrett Browning’s poem “How do I love thee? Let me count the ways…” . You can view more images and a copy of the full poem in the Sacred Spiral Art Gallery section. You can see works from previous workshops in the Participants’ Art section.
