The Passion in the Wood "04
In God We Trust AKA ...
This painting, is a very vital painting, in the artistic auto-biography of my life, which my artwork, as a whole, creates.
It is also a very important picture, because it is the second picture, that I signed my name, with my own blood, to represent my unworthiness of Christ's precious sacrifice for my sins.
The inspiration for this painting, came one morning, when I saw an image, like this one, in some deck boards, on my son's deck. When I saw the image, I rushed into the house, to get pencil and paper from my grandson. when I finished sketching the image in pencil, I showed it to my daughter-in-law. She then saw the image in the deck boards also. Then, she said to me, Oh! Did you hear about the movie called, "The Passion of The Christ" which Mel Gibson is making. I said, No! I haven't heard about it until right now.
Ironicaly also, that night, was the first of two saturday nights in a role, that I just barely escaped with my life, at my old house in North Chicago, which ended up forcing me out of my house and forcing me to sell it for almost nothing, so that we could escape with our lives. I worked so hard for 19 years to pay off that house. The equity in that house was my only and my whole lives savings.
I added the pencil drawing here and a photo of the deck board that was taken over a year after I saw the original image. The deck had went through another winter and the board cracked a lot, making the image not near as clear as the day I first saw it. Also the image is clearer when you look at it from an angle; looking upward from the bottom of the photo.
