My artistic style has grown and evolved over the years, moving from abstract forms to pieces done from direct observation.
Although I am an admirer of Surrealism, my strongest artistic influence has been Georgia O'Keeffe. "Vessel" and "Symmetry" (which can be found in the Abstract Compositions category) are examples of how my style emulates hers. My most recent work has been from direct observation and I have enjoyed my concentration on floral compositions and house portraits the most.
In 1996, I received my BFA degree with a concentration in Painting from the School of Art and Design at the NYS College of Ceramics, Alfred University, located in western New York. I went on to take courses in computer graphics, graphic design, typography and illustration at a local community college and immediately began my job as an Advertising Account Representative at the Cortland Standard, a small, privately owned daily newspaper in central New York. The position involves both advertising sales and graphic design. In addition to designing ads, I have also had several of my illustrations published in various promotions and features in the newspaper.
I am an active member of the Cortland Art League, a local art organization that affords me the opportunity to display my work in local businesses and at community events.
In addition to the pieces for sale through this site, I also take commissions to do drawings of buildings and homes from photographs. Click on "Commissioned Work" to see examples and for more information on this service. |
