Four Seasons In One Day
Hunter Jay (see more by this artist)
This is a commissioned piece. The client wanted a tree that was half dead; half alive, with the trunk in the middle of the canvas. While I've seen other paintings similar to this, I felt I could not succeed in that direction. I presented the idea of having the four seasons represented, where there would be a tree with branches that appeared to be 'dead', though it would represent winter instead of death, then as you moved clockwise, it turned into autumn, then spring, then summer. I used a dogwood tree to represent this concept and the client ended up being very happy with it.
