8 Reale Spanish Coin Pendant

This grade 1, Spanish 8 Reale coin was recovered in 1985 from the Spanish galleon, "Nuestra Senora de Atocha" which sank in 1622. The front or obverse side of the coin is stamped with the shield of Phillip III and the reverse side shows the lions of the Province of Leon and the castles of Castille which were the two powerful regions that united to form the Kingdom of Spain. The pendant is approximately 1 3/4" in diameter and has a weight of 28 grams. The ancient coin is mounted in a simple gold bezel and wears a 1/2" gold bail. The coin is 999.999 fine silver and was awarded 24 points by Treasure Salvors, Inc. in 1986, placing the historical intrinsic value at $1,656.00.
