Memory pot, cantor, handbuilt, clay
Nancy Bossert (see more by this artist)
This "Memory Pot ~ Cantor" is a new exciting piece. This piece is created out of one slab of rolled out clay and then is beaten into shape. The style is referred to as bash pottery. I just keep beating the clay with a flat stick until I achieve the result I am looking for. This is a long process in developing a shape.
I currently have a few of these in galleries. This pottery piece includes copper chain as well as inset cork, a variety of semi precious stones ( including mahogany obsidian, dumorterite, and striped onyx).
I planned to add cork to the piece after it was glazed and fired. The holes for the cork were created during the clay working process.
This is glazed in a cream crackle coloration and a bronze/brown at the bottom, I also stamped the piece with a circular pattern in black. There is also a blue glaze added to the piece approximately 3/4 of the way down which encircles the pot. The pot stands approximately 6 1/2" high and 7 1/2" in diameter.

Check out my blogspot for a drawing/painting 101! I just started a new water lily piece that will incorporate realism and abstraction. Watch this piece as it develops. nancybossert.blogspot.com Thank you, Nancy
Enjoy the difference, Nancy
