Wildlife on the move to a new world and a new life. The scorched earth can no longer sustain them. They have almost been hunted to extinction and their habitat and food has been destroyed by humans. This is their final gathering and the last time they will be seen on earth. They head for their very own place in the sun where human's cannot interfere with them. No more cruelty or poaching for skins and horns, just peace and quiet and an existence that was intended when they were first placed on earth. Earth no doubt will never be the same without the wildlife, but that is the price man has to pay for their selfishness and disregard towards wildlife.
This of course is a fantasy piece and a little whimsical. I just got to thinking 'what if there was no wildlife left'? These thoughts led to the painting. Some of the animals are quite realistic, others based on rock art. The viewer can make up their own minds as to what is what. But the theme is clear. I hope this painting appeals to children and adults and gives everyone something to think about.
