DESCRIPTION: Perhaps the title caught your attention? As an artist, one is constantly looking for inspiration; And inspiration came to me from millions of miles away ... Mars, to be exact.
I've always loved astronomy and science fiction. "Hermus Vallis" is the scientific name given to a geologic area in Mars in the Cerebrus hemisphere. The name originally came from the classical name for a river in ancient Lydia (modern Turkey).
Of course, I took plenty of artistiic liberty with this piece and imagined a giant, lava-like, deep red hued river cutting its way through the rough terrain of Mars. The artwork is very abstract and can of course be whatever you imagine. Whether you love the variation of deep red tones or the heavy textural elements, this artwork has plenty of visual appeal and will offer an endless array of opportunities to contemplate its affect on the viewer.
Materials: Acrylic paints and a thick archival gloss varnish on a stretched canvas gallery wrap frame. The 1.5" deep sides are painted in black for that finished framed look. Unless you desire one, there is no need for a frame. The painting is ready to hang and display with pride.

MOUNTING: As with all my artworks, this piece is ready to hang as soon as received. Heavy duty gallery quality hanging materials are securely attached to the back of the piece. Also, rubber bumper guards are placed on the back of each piece so that they, not the artwork, rest softly on your wall (adds a floating effect as well). Professional picture hanger(s) for drywall applications that will not damage your wall are also included. If your artwork will be hung on a surface other than drywall, then your local hardware, department or picture framing store will have the appropriate wall hanger at a minimal cost.
ABOUT THE PHOTOS: We do our best to take the highest quality photos for your review. However, due to the variation of color calibration from monitor to monitor, the colors are not always consistent and may not be the same as those viewed in person. However, you will find that the photos will not do justice to the true colors, luminosity and textures that this artwork presents in real life.
