4 foot diameter Sol

A very large piece consisting of a 4 foot diameter circle of fiberboard, gesso'd and stretched with gesso'd linen, then re-gesso'd. It was further treated with a combination of molding paste, garnet gesso and pumice gesso, to give it a very textured surface. Afterwards it was painted with cadmium yellow and Australian Sienna with areas of titanium white.
A photo of the finished product was taken, masked in photoshop and placed against a black background, simulating Sol in the vast darkness and vacuum of space.
