Chevalier Jackson Medical Drawing
Brenda Fettig Murphy (see more by this artist)
Original Pastel Drawing by Dr. Chevalier Jackson, noted Otolaryngologist.
The drawing shows an obstruction/foreign body in the trachea.
The drawing is signed by Dr. Jackson (C/J).
Size: 10 3/4" x 16 1/4" unframed.
Drawing on black pastel paper and is in excellent condition.
It was created by Dr. Jackson, noted Otolaryngologist (ENT surgeon), while teaching a class in Philadelphia in November 1929. My father-in-law, an ENT surgeon, was one of his students.
Dr. Jackson was a Bronscopy pioneer who often made chalk sketches while he taught classes. He was ambidextrous by training and could draw with either hand or both hands at the same time which he often did in his classes. This drawing has been in our family's possession since it was originally done in 1929.
Other drawings by Dr. Jackson can be seen at the American Academy of Otolaryngology Virtual Museum. This is one of the few drawings by Dr. Jackson available for sale from a private collection.
This drawing would make a wonderful "surprise" gift for an ENT surgeon who is familiar with the incredible work of Dr. Jackson, or the perfect "recognition" gift for an ENT surgeon being honored at a special event or gathering by an organization.
