(see more by this artist)

Countess Dierdriana of the Misty Isles, wearing her Heraldic Arms 15th Century sideless surcote she designed & created. It is trimmed on the side openings with a metallic embroidered Rose design in her primary Armorial colors, red & blue with black & gold. In this view, she is wearing a purple & maroon under gown that laces on the sides with delicate white lace at the cuff & bodice. On her left wrist is a petit-point bracelet found at an Estate Sale & it is a Rose design. It was likely made in the late 1800s, the best anyone can tell. Inside the band it reads ‘Austria’ & its style & construction is of that era. It is a perfect compliment to a medieval lady’s accessories, along with her necklace & earrings of Baltic Amber. She wears her Sterling Silver Countess Coronet with its Lotus Blossoms centered with a Golden Jasper cabochon & wears a maroon veil. She designed & created her Regalia Collar in a soft gray with a thin black & white trim edge to display Awards she has received in the SCA. See additional view to see her Awards Collar closer. See another view from 1982 of Artemus, Dierdriana, then King Radnor & Queen Esmirelda, in which Dierdriana is wearing a red & golden under gown. See view of her in Burgundy Wine & Surcote as Sky colors for The Fruit of the Vine for the Purgatorio Coronation of King Paul & Queen Rowena in 1982 at Lake Berryessa. The colors are somewhat off because of old prints from camera. Then go see the Plastron Dierdriana Designed the Embroidery for & Stitched for Rowena herein this gallery, as it is Dierdriana's Masterpiece Art! Dierdriana can wear her grey or white under gowns with this surcote, as well. See the of Earl Ronald Wilmot & Countess Dierdriana leaving Court just after receiving their new titles as aforementioned. She is wearing a green under tunic with blue trim. The 1985 photo of Dierdriana is at a West Kingdom Coronation event in 1985: ‘Purgatorio’ (Northern California) & as seen by the wheat-colored grass, it was hot & quite dry, though makes a nice background contrast for the photo. This was taken just after Dierdriana had received a Queen’s Order of Grace (QOG) from Queen Rowena’s hand. The QOG is seen suspended below her Regalia Collar. It is a Heraldic Rose & Crown with a tear droplet pearl. At that time, Countess Dierdriana was Queen Rowena’s ‘Great’ Lady (in Waiting), as a Countess serving her Queen, as Rowena had served as Dierdriana’s ‘Great’ Lady in 1984. When one serves in that capacity, it is memorable, great fun & in our case, it bonded we ladies further as ‘chosen’ sisters. Being an attendant does have its specific ‘service’ & ‘attentive needs’ that are greatly appreciated by anyone in ‘Royal’ hats (crowns). To that end of service & Royal attendants, a few years ago, Dierdriana wrote an instructional manual, ‘Guidelines on Being an Attendant to Royalty’ that has served many SCA ‘friends serving friends’ quite well ‘to know what to do’ & ‘what not to do!’ Contact Maureen W. Clifton, aka Countess Dierdriana of the Misty Isles should you be interested in a copy of the booklet. See contact info within Yessy Bio.
