The work in this portfolio entirely exists of photographic material. Part of this work was mainly small sized and analog. Treated and manipulated with chemical products. Afterwards it is digitized (scanned with high resolution) and transferred to a much larger size (a real blow-up). As a result the pictures are not sharp, have a strong roughness and show brutality. Sometimes even the remains of the chemicals can be seen. These raw externals of the pictures seamlessly fade into the raw, partially deconstructed society. This work is created in the context of a degenerative era. The economic implosion, the multi-ethnic problems, the sociological impact of changing life patterns. Landscapes and portraits are stripped from their monotonous, predictable aesthetics and make place for a different surprising aesthetics. What remains fascinating is the creation of "the image" and its relation to reality. How we react on images is mostly the result of automatisms (oh's and ah's), with other words : the image has become corrupted.
