This is my 6th Intuitive Fine Art ‘I Am’ Miniature Series & has been in a local Art Show.
As a Needlepoint Artist, this is a shift to snother use of a screen & painting with thread.
I did this as a challenge to myself to see if it could be done & it worked beautifully, though took some time to do, because of the method in which I created it.
I believe we need to Honor Oceans & Sea Life for without the oceans & all which lives in it – this Earth would be in huge trouble.
I believe we need to be diligent in preserving our Oceans, Seas, Rivers, Streams, Creeks & other waterways for Earth’s future health & the next generations.
Motif: 1.5 inch high x 1.75 inch wide Sea Shell Charm made of metal in a light pewter tone.
Threads: Pearl Cotton & Metallic strand embroidery.
Technique: Not all stitching needs to be on mesh or screens or material (fabric). Inspired by the open cut & etched Sea Shell motif, this was woven & wrapped in certain areas & carefully manipulated the thread to achieve it how I desired it to look.
Frame Size: 4 inches wide x 4.25 inches high, Gold & Silver Burnished Finish, almost Antique in appearance. Depending on the light in a room, the frame’s color changes & photographing it was a challenge, as in the same light & position, the color kept shifting (see additional views).
Background: A photo of Water I took in an undisclosed location. I liked how the light shimmered across the obviously colored water.
At the bottom is sand which represents ‘All The Sands Of The World’ which clean the shores each time a wave crashes onto the shore & wanes away again.
Sand is small particles of Gemstones, Minerals & Crystals. The Sand I used is from a Sand Collection from Around the Earth & from Beaches, Lakes & Rivers.
I added the sand in a method so some of the water colors are still seen through it.
If you have never done so, look at Sand with a hand held magnifying glass. Then, look at Sand under a microscope, as it is an amazing world, all unto itself.
This Intuitive Fine Art ‘I Am’ Miniature Series item makes a statement all on its own with a colorful Sea Shell to represent the many bold colors often seen in Earth Ocean’s & waterways with their many textures of Plants & Sea Life!
Elements: It had two clear cut crystals on the motif already (at the bottom). I added a Pearl & faceted cut glass to represent the following: Amethyst, Sapphire & Aquamarine. They add shimmer, sparkle & dimension behind the holes in the Shell Motif.
The rich quality of this item balances well with the colors the frame imbues. It is an item which could be placed on a work desk to glance at & find the peacefulness of any water’s energy flow brings to one’s heart & mind. Water can transmute & create energy. Without it – nothing would have ever survived on Earth.
