The pattern for these pillows, Grandmother’s Quilt is an old pattern first published in 1948 in the Kansas City Star managed by Edna Marie Dunn. The original pattern had the star being white and the background colored. The artist decided that it was better to have the colored fabric (royal purple in this instance) be the star and really make it stand out against a cream background fabric printed with Oriental language characters.
Hand quilting was done by the artist on each pillow to accent the over all design of the checkerboard effect in the center of the star as well as to repeat the star shape in the 4 corners. The quilting stitches are heirloom-quality and enhance the overall block design. This is finely detailed hand quilting that is achieved after years of experience.
Each pillow has a high quality, hypo-allergenic polyester pillow form that is very soft yet holds its shape and is a dream to rest your head on. The back of the pillow is covered in the same fabric as the outside border. All fabrics in the pillows are 100% cotton. The batting used for the hand quilting is 100% polyester.
These pillows are machine washable and dryable which makes them perfect for everyday use on your favorite sofa or chair. Complete care instructions are included. Crafted in a smoke-free and animal-free environment.
The fabrics used in these pillows are no longer produced so these are limited edition pillows that other collectors will not have in their collections. These pillows are only available directly from the artist.
