 Artist Statement:
Christine Brown is one of the founding members of the “Bohemian Underground Art Group” based out of Monterey, Ca. She is one of a group of local women who love art and the performing arts, mainly Belly Dance. It was their love of dance that brought them together. Other artists in the group include works by Lin Simmons, Jenny Nelson Cain and Marie O”Rielly as well as the instructors. Realizing some of the ladies had formal art training Christine began taking formal art classes in 2007 from instructors Lana Loukianenko from Odessa and Olga Perry of Moscow. Both teachers are extremely talented and well trained in classical painting and sculpting techniques of the old masters. The group comes together for classes and shows where they bring together a variety of techniques and styles.”
Her second year as an artist was a successful one. In February 2008, Christine won best of show for her entry "Oh Behave" at the Erotic Art Show in Monterey, CA. The same year Christine was awarded first place from the City of Seaside, Avery Gallery in Seaside, CA for her entry "Hot Jazz Trumpet".

Christine is almost half way through her life, a late bloomer like Georgia O'Keefe but she feels like it is just the beginning. She hopes to share her journey through art and dance as she learns and grows as an artist. This is an exciting time for her and she looks forward to sharing her journey as a living artist. |
