DON began his career in Hollywood where he worked for Disney and then later for MGM, Paramount, Twentieth-Century Fox, Warner Bros, Columbia and in the 80's he worked for Filmation.
He was an Art Director, Visual Consultant, Creative Consultant, Associate Producer, wrote Screenplays and for ten years worked for Blake Edwards as a creative consultant and associate Producer.
Don was the BACKGROUND ARTIST for the Original movie - "Planet of the Apes"!
He was nominated for an ACADEMY AWARD in 1966 for the film "Naked Prey", original screenplay and story. In 1964 the Venice Film festival award for a Dramatic Short Subject went to 'The Soldier' from Don's screenplay and original story - 'Bloody Mama, Beach Red' screenplay.
His paintings and drawings are owned by H.R.H. the Prince of Wales, Katy Couric, John Wayne, Bing Crosby, Lee Remick, Blake Edwards, Julie Andrews, Jane Withers, Peter Hurd, Bill Wellman, Jack Ward, Henry Mancini and many, many more.
Don's FIRST international recognition came from 'combat sketches' made while serving the U.S. Marine Corps - 1942-1945. Those sketches were exhibnited in the National Galleries of London and throughout the United States during World War ll and resulted in a scholarship from the Newspapermen of America and the Marshal Field Co., of Chicago.
Don received his Bachelor of Arts degree from John Herron Art School and exhibited in shows at the Metropolitan Museum, the Whitney Museum and National Pastel Society of New York.
