 A resident artist at Art Works, Inc., 320 Hull St., Richmond, Virginia, Hugh works primarily in acrylic on canvas, as well as watercolors and pen and ink drawings. While his focus has been on nautical and marine subjects much of his life, he has recently been expanding to a broader range of subjects. Using color to express emotion and bring his subjects into balance and life, Hugh has in recent years been expanding his style and developing new approaches. For some years he traveled and sold his paintings through Mid-Atlantic regional festivals at conventions centers and fairgrounds, and now focuses more on the Richmond area where he lives, and surrounding communities. He has work available in shops and galleries in Virginia's Northern Neck, Middle Peninsula, and other Virginis communities. He is frequently asked to do paintings of houses or boats, which he calls House and Boat Portraits, and a gallery of such commissioned works is included on this Yessy web site.
