A long time ago, a friend handed me a piece of paper consisting of only a bunch of black and white squiggles. He just said "stare at this for a while". Before long, something magic happened. Images of a guitar and an airplane unexpectedly emerged. Not only was I hooked, I was determined to figure it out, which I did.
About a year later, all the hidden image books and posters hit the market and made quite a spash. Although the popularity faded within a few years, I kept my interest and began to make some of my own. In fact, I developed and sold a shareware program "3D Fun & Magic" back when shareware was sold by mail and few people had heard of the internet.
Over the years I developed my own methods for the creation and utilization of stereographic images and have two patents pending. The first deals with the application of stereograms to curved surfaces which creates a wild illusion of motion. The second method is Single Viewpoint Stereography which has several advantages over traditional methods including the ease of animation. Most of the images in my galleries were created with this method.
If you would like to know more, please visit my site, www.3dwonderstuff.com . In addition to images, the site has animations and other fun stuff. I would be honored by any feedback, and would be glad to answer any questions or provide help if you are having trouble seeing the 3D effect.
If you use 3D modeling programs like 3dsMax, Maya, Lightwave, etc., and would be interested in learning how to create stereograms with my methods, I would be interested in helping you. Also, the application of stereograms to curved surfaces like cups is a great tool for marketing or promotion. If you have an interest in this, I surely want to talk with you.
I live near Atlanta, Georgia.
Just one final note. The small compressed images presented in my galleries just don't do justice to the large high resolution prints. I suppose that's true for everybody's art, but especially true in the case of sterographic images. |
