"Fire & Ice on the Hudson" - HS-204
Anthony-Francis
This is an archival produced image.
This image has been rated 5 stars - see bottom of page.
Another spectacular sunset over the Hudson River looking toward New Jersey.
This is a study in "light balance." We always think of the sun as lighting toward us. This registers as the familiar red sunset we see to the right of center. However, this study also takes into consideration the fact that the sun lights away from us as well. This is witnessed by the by the beautiful sea-green hue to the left of center. As a matter-of-fact there is even Light in Darkness, if we dare to seek it out. All is magnificently offset in the ice-like foreground.
The photograph: A Hudson River sunset as viewed from the waterfront of Greenwich Village, NY, circa 1969.

This is spectacular work - an excellant example of finding an image using a camera, but capturing the real spirit of the place through the eye of an artist. No need to know the technical facts one usually asks of a photographic image - lense, film speed, camera, capture (film or digital),etc., etc. This image obviously came from the heart and imagination of an artist's vision. Beautiful work! |
