After college, life got a hold of me and time seemed consumed. As a wife, mother, worker, and daughter-in-law, little time was left for me. Now that I am an empty-nester, I am able to steal myself away from others for a while to do what I want to do.
My days and nights have always been full of views of colors, textures and patterns that fascinate me. I see "Abstracted Perceptions" in countless objects, from the colors and patterns I found in a motorcycle engine in my "After the Horse", to the internal workings of a moth orchid, in the "Continuation of the Species". My nights are sometimes sleepless, with roiling colors and ideas that tease me in the dark.
I love to see the artists' hand in their pieces. This is why I will sometimes leave the noticeable marks of creating, from the drawing marks made in the first planning of the piece, to the detectable fabrications of textures.
Bringing a piece to fruition is not always simple, but may often be tortuous, especially when the piece has a mind of it's own - which they often do. As an artist, we may have one vision, but the piece itself decides the final outcome. It may refuse to be totally release from the bounds of form, or plead for just that one more thing to make it complete. This grappling with the piece is what keeps me coming back, making it not manufactured, but "Abstracted Perceptions". |
