 Born and raised in Italy Dora had a passion for painting from her early teens. Her ability was recognized with success at school art shows. Prevented by circumstances from following an education at art institute, she pursued a career in business for many years, initially in Italy and after moving to in England in 1988. She moved to Cayman in 2000. The easier pace of life and the growing-up of her two sons gave her time and space to dedicate herself to painting and to develop as an artist.
She has studied privately on Island and attended numerous workshop abroad at the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto where she has learned the realistic technique of the Masters.
Dora’s influences include the great masters of the Renaissance and their fascination with the human body. Dora is also heavily influenced by the works of Georgia O’ Keeffe and her ability to evoke feelings through the images of flowers.
Her latest paintings are inspired by the Sea and the experience of living on the island of Grand Cayman.
Dora now volunteers on the board of the Viasual Art Society of the Cayman Islands, promoting the appreciation and art awareness.

Artist statement:
As an Italian and raised in a country full of classical art , the renaissance artists especially have inspired my work. I am neither an abstract or a classical painter, but a combination of both. In my painting I seek to take elements learnt from the Masters and combine these with my own ideas. I incorporate various abstract and expressionist ideas and subjects that come from personal experience. |
