Artist Statement/ Materials List
Quarrels in the Workplace was inspired after I met someone who did not believe that art was a 'real job', so I trudged into the working world determined to confrom. Instead, after laboring in unappreciated obscurity, I found I was nothing more than a target for the ambitions and apsirations of my co-workers...I ditched one obsession and went back to my first love - painting. The damage caused by the invisible darts of gossip or the more obvious arrows of jealousy are represented by rusty spikes, nails and steel bars. The fragile tissue pierced by these weapons is reflected in the bullseyes - created with oils on canvas, Okarwa and tissue papers, iron spike, and dyes.
In the end Quarrels in the Workplace is a
message of hope, as reflected in the vivid colors.
A target is a victim only if you hold still for the archers.
