|I create digital paintings. A “digital painting” is created through a process that involves both photographic and computer digital art. The first step in this process involves setting up the composition of a photograph through the lens of the camera. During this process I minimally consider lighting, visual balance, and the aesthetic quality of the proposed photograph. After I get the green light in my head I make whatever camera adjustments I decide are necessary and take the photograph. The second step in this process entails a critical review of the shots taken. Typical photo shoots result in perhaps 2 or 3 photos out of 50 making the cut. The final step in this process involves digitally enhancing, manipulating and retouching a digital photograph file, with a goal of giving it the look of a watercolor painting. The underlying concept is to transform a realistic photograph into what my memory of the actual scene was at the time it was taken. For me, that memory is more vibrant, colorful and impressionistic. This part of the process can take days of continuing effort to make the transition to a print I am satisfied and visually pleased with. Not all digital paintings make the final cut and get posted in one of my galleries.
I have decided to share my artwork with the intent of pleasing others with the beautiful things I have seen in this world. We all know there are enough unpleasant and unsettling images that invade our lives on a daily basis and I want to counter those images with soothing and beautiful portraits of the various parts and occupants of our world. My images have pleased those who love me, and hopefully they will also please and calm you with the thought the world is a beautiful place we should all explore to the fullest while we are here.
I believe I offer original art prints at an affordable price. All editions are limited to no more than 50 prints. A certificate of authenticity is provided with each print. I use only professional grade ink and papers that result in very high lightfast ratings and print longevity. Most of my art prints are not framed or matted because I believe the choices inherent in that process are dependent on the buyer’s own tastes and preferences. I do, however, provided all purchasers detailed information and guidelines on how and where to have prints framed and matted at an affordable price. All of my prints are backed with a no hassle guarantee that offers a full refund if you are not satisfied. Please note that the gallary mark will not appear in purchased prints and has only been added to enforce copyright protection.
If you are interested in viewing the brave and dedicated men and women of our military’s Airborne forces in action, please visit one of my newest galleries, US Airborne Troops. These noble warriors are our defenders of freedom. In their honor I am donating all of the proceeds from the sale of prints in this gallery to the USO (www.uso.org). My 25-year-old son was a paratrooper who completed two tours of duty with the 82nd Airborne Division in Iraq.
If you don’t find a print that you fancy, come back to this site intermittently and perhaps you will because I will be posting additional prints on an ongoing basis. Possibly some day you will find a print that affords you the pleasure of viewing the beauty of the world that I enjoyed with the intent of helping others to enjoy it in the same way.
