I first became interested in wire wrapped jewelry while living in Bolivia, adopting my son. The women of many indigenous tribes there make beautiful jewelry out of literally nothing-scraps of wire, usally "found" at contruction sites, seeds and small stones. They sell it on the streets for pennies to support their children. I was fascinated and humbled by their ingenuity, creativity and joy in the face of hardship. Now that my son is 10, and I have a little time to create my own jewelry, I found that the images and colors I saw in Bolivia are still with me, and I am incorporating them into the things I make. Because there are so many children in need in Bolivia, I send half the profits from the jewelry I make and sell to the Nuns at Hogar Fatima Orphanage, in thanks for the loving care they gave my son, and continue to give to the many Boliviano children waiting for a permanent home.
Your purchase helps to buy milk, vitamins and other necessities for these wonderful children.
Thank You. |
