Biography
Jaime VillaJaime Villa was born in BaƱos, Ecuador in the Province of Tungurahua. He has long been a part of the fine art community in Ecuador and is very well known both inside and outside the the art world in his native country. His distinctive style and flare has marked his works from the beginning. He continues to actively paint in his studio and is regularly involved in important exhibitions throughout the country.

Since 1960 Jaime Villa has been participating in many exhibitions both national and international, like the Salon de Octubre and the first Bienal of independence for Latinamerica in 1972. He has made many individual exhibitions in Quito and Guayaquil - Ecuador and has also had exhibitions in Los Angeles, USA - Lima, Peru - Mexico City, Mexico.

Currently he is a Professor of Artistic Drawing and Design in the University Laica Vicente Rocafuerte de Guayaquil, Ecuador. These are but a few of the many exhibitions he has participated in in the past decades. He has also been recently invited to participate in an exhibition in Soho, New York starting March 29th, 2006 at the Agora Gallery. He is also involved in numerous other exhibitions in Ecuador as he is frequently sought out because of his popularity in the artist community. Although his work is not available online he is one of the foremost children's books illustrator in the country also, most of which he does as a way to give back to the community.

Among recent news is that Jaime has been approached by the "Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana de Tungurahua" (Ecuadorian Cultural Center of Tungurahua)to produce a coffee table book based on the life and paintings of Jaime Villa. It is hoped that this book will be made available to the public soon.
