Much of my childhood was spent drawing everything on anything that had a blank space. My favorite tool was a yellow, HB no. 2 school pencil.
More medias were explored in my college years. A semester in watercolor turned into five semesters of life drawing classes and two semesters of portraiture. Working in watercolor, pastel, charcoal, and graphite. I learned valuable skills in accuracy, likeness, color blending, and seeing more than the obvious colors of a persons skin. An anatomy class furthered my understanding of the human body from an internal aspect. People are my favorite subject.
Currently, I work in watercolor, watercolor/pastel, graphite and occasionally acrylic. I have painted a little more than a handful of murals.
Besides painting fine art pieces I draw and paint portraits of children, and personalized wall clocks. I still use a no. 2 school pencil for thumbnail sketches, the beginnings of watercolor paintings and graphite drawings.
The subjects typically chosen are vignettes of people, animals, food, and flowers. In other words, just about anything. People are my main interest.
My work has been in various shows and has won 1st and 2nd place awards as well as awards for composition.
My future endevours include fine art with floor cloths and mosaic tile art. Floor cloths are custom, handpainted canvas rugs treated with three coats of non-yellowing, water-based varnish. A hypoallergenic and low maintainance floor covering perfect for kitchens, hallways, entry ways, and bathrooms. Mosaic tile art has yet to be explored.
