This girl was on the cover of a National Geographic magazine.
A extensive pastel and conte study on brown Canson paper to practice my skills and to see how far I could take it. I worked on this painting off and on for three years. More off than on. The actual hours invested were not that much. It was an extreme challange for me at the time as I was not a very confident artist back then.
I met my husband and did alot of growing up while I was doing this painting. Even though I got the image from a magazine cover, I changed things about it. Mainly the eyes. What you see in her eyes was who I was. The saying 'eyes are the windows to the soul' is very true.
