"I find pleasure in seeking the beauty of God's hand in nature and creativity."
I was born and raised an hour's drive north of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I am a first generation Canadian. My mother, a Ukrainian immigrant, was always creating something: cross-stitched pictures, embroidered pillow cases, knitted sweaters. As she taught me these utilitarian crafts, my love for the creative process was kindled.
I first received public affirmation for my art at the age of eight when I was awarded top place in the Edmonton Journal Christmas coloring contest.
At the age of twelve I received a Kodak Instamatic 126 as a gift and my infatuation with the photographic process was kindled.
In highschool, on the yearbook committee, I discovered the magic of the darkroom: a world of light, photographic paper and chemical process.
After four years of fine art training and through twenty plus years of independent exploration and exhibiting, my use of the photographic process evolved to where the process had become an artistic medium in and of itself, like a painter's paint or a sculptor's clay. The process in its literal sense, light drawing, fascinated me.
An uneasiness with the environmental impact of the photographic process, plus working for a fine art publisher during the mid nineteen nineties, lead me to an infatuation with the digital imaging process, as well as a working knowledge of the 7.5" x 10" printmaking process I use today.
Images are initially captured digitally, with either a camera or a scanner, manipulated with graphics software, output to a transfer matrix and then heat pressed to torn cotton rag museum quality paper.
Also offered are 16" x 20" conventional digital prints output to silver-halide based photographic media.
I have been happily married to Lyle Delaney since 1989 (nee Janie Wojcicki). We are Christian and attend Bethesda Christian Fellowhip in Edmonton, Alberta.
