Artistic Statement:
WHO I AM and all that I am is a constant process of becoming. I am not what I have done; I am what I am feeling in the moment. My paintings are the best example of what I am expressing. They describe me better than words.
To me what nationality I am or where I come from is immaterial. If addressed I would rather say “I am a small part of a powerful yet loving, living planet expressing itself creatively, while living in the moment - in the now….
” This is most relevant, for it is how I manifest my creations. I express my innermost perception of the greater picture by looking deep inside, the explosive power, and reflecting on this and continue by exposing what is inside the center of my higher heart. My mind is a tool like my eyes and hands to be guided by my heart. That is my technique.
For my inspiration I look to nature. I see her beauty in the molecular world of inner space, in the expanse of land, sea and sky, but above all in the outer limits of space and beyond. My favorite color is blue, my favorite place is space and my favorite weather is a powerful thunder and lightning storm. So I was delighted to find that the day I was born, according to the Mayan Calendar, assigns me the name ‘‘Blue Galactic Storm.’’
Biography:
I was born in Baltimore Maryland on October 24, 1962, a little bit before midnight, during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Through serendipity I was haunted by the thought of nuclear devastation till I was 18-19 when I shed all most all my fears. Living a short distance from ’the‘ Nuclear Test Site, in lights of Las Vegas, Nevada I created art as a child, and continued as a young adult. Life has taken me to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Thailand, Hawaii, Virgin Islands, London, Amsterdam, Reno as well as the mountains of Nevada, West Virginia and New York. I spent a year at the Las Vegas Community College using the ceramic facilities, studying life drawing, architecture and mechanical drawing. Three years at the University of Las Vegas and studying art and science while I continued exploring ceramic sculpture. Majored in geology but couldn’t see the poetry in the math. Continuing to sculpt, but was seduced by the canvas for its infinite depth and impressionistic capacity. Currently residing in Miami concentrating on acrylic painting, geclées and cyber space creations. |
