 Joy van der Klift –Hanser
About Joy’s Art
Encouraged by artistic parents and inspired by beauty and story telling, Joy loves to explore subjects and media. “It’s like unguided travel,” she says. “An adventure where the sudden discovery inspires the response, and the trick to seeing the most is to become invisible yourself. I let the discovery dictate the medium and style of expression.” Paint, texture, drawing, collage, layering, pastels, photography, portraits, sculpture and large murals all form a part of Joy’s artistic repertoire.” My graphic design education has played a large part in developing versatility, requiring me to always find new ways and means of expression.”
Although Joy’s art is largely self-propelled, she is grateful to the many ways in which her talent has been nurtured. Her family, and also the painters Paul Gauguin and Emily Carr provided early inspiration, murals and signs were a source of income for many years, and presently work in the movie industry continues to expand her boundaries.
