 HIS ART
Painting has been Karun’s delight and strong point right from his teenage years when he pursued the art and craft of subtle maneuver of colour and brush. Though, it was Samidha Shikha, his wife whom he calls his ‘muse’ who really encouraged him to do ‘his own thing’. It was she who truly discovered a diamond in the rough and the pearl within its shell.
Karun’s inner journey began, not in small paces, but by leaps and bounds, discovering the self within. It is the whole cosmos that is revealed in his work. His inimitable way and masterly strokes expound profound layers of meaning. Life emanates various hues in one’s subconscious. It is when these hues yearn to reveal themselves that Karun allows the meandering colours to spill over and define themselves externally. He now moves away from conventional brush and palette - perhaps returning beyond the basics. Thus there is no coercion or struggle on his part at all. Colour simple flows. He goes beyond time and space. Visual textures take shape.
Finally, the artist and the beholder discover beauty in the harmony and tranquility of Karun’s passion- his art.
Karun is a winner of Best Artist Awards from All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society, New Delhi and Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi.
Karun is widely exhibited not only in India but also in America. He has to his credit dozens of solo and curated/juried shows. His works have been reviewed and highly admired by so many important national dailies. |
