Copyright MA Photo gallery
In front of the garbha griha (the sanctum sanctorum of a temple)of a Village Goddess temple in a small village in Tamil Nadu, a woman has drawn a kolam (rice flour painting to thank and celebrate Mother Earth)and placed three mud candles and several beautiful hibiscus flowers around it. The mud candles resemble the form of the holy yoni, a symbol of the great creatrix. The hibiscus flowers are also symbols for the womb of the Goddess.
