With hammer and chisel exacting blows precisely, chips away at the excess getting to the skin of the sculpture. Using italian rifflers (files) especially made for marble with alot of pressure, expecially with this hard American marble, but not enough to create breakage! Then using jewelry files for detailing. Then the arduous task of wet-sanding with 80, 120, 220, 320, 400, 600, and 800 grit paper, by hand... then to polish, but it doesn't need much after 800 grit wet-sand, for the stone already has a sheen to it. I use oxalic acid and tin oxide and a moist rag, which windows the material, yielding the true character of the stone and giving the sculpture an awakened, vibrant, dePasquale appeal.
