I have been painting for the last 27 years or so and have been blessed to have received expert instruction from Mr. Gene Mako while, at the same time being a golf professional, having access to some of America's greatest golf courses. Hence, I have specialized in golf course landscape painting as well as still life, traditional landscape and religious art.
I believe my golf landscapes are unique in this genre as I am the only artist I know of who paints both "historical" and contemporary golf settings, while seeking deadly accuracy in representing the golf architect's design, and employing broad "poetic license" in portraying mood and feeling through atmospheric effects like, time of day, weather and season. I have illustrated two books, "The Art of Golf Design" and "The Golden Age of Golf Design" for golf historian and author, Geoff Shackelford as well as many covers for books, magazines and periodicals, including Golf World's "Arts" issue (Nov. 2010) in which I was also one of the article's featured artists.
I relocated to Anderson IN from Los Angeles in 2007 to marry the beautiful Joyce Martin and now work in my 4th floor studio in the Union Building in downtown Anderson. If you are ever able to find Anderson IN, please feel free to visit the studio (#451). I also have my own website at michaelgmillerfineart.net
