 Michelle Legere AOCAD
The encouragement to develop my artistic side began with my kindergarten report card. The support of my family resulted in many early opportunities, and I was fortunate to be entering high school the very year that a new arts program was being implemented. Among the first graduating class, I was presented with the Outstanding Visual Art Student Award. In my third year at the Ontario College of Art (now O.C.A.D), I was one of a limited number of applicants accepted to the Florence Program. I studied art and jewellery design in Italy, living and painting in one of the most beautiful places in the world. After returning to Canada, I continued making jewellery for a decade and sold at such locations as The Ontario Gallery of Art Giftshop and The London Gallery Giftshop. Finally, I returned to my first love and began painting again. Years of portrait painting and commissioned work has given way at last to indulging in doing just what I please!
