A Profile of Artist Michal (Miki) Kehati, Yemenite / Israeli Citizen of the World
Nashim: A Journal of Jewish Women's Studies & Gender Issues - Number 11, Spring 5767/2006, pp. 224-235
Indiana University Press
Wrote:

“Michal (Miki) Kehati’s paintings, collages, and prints, with their dense layering of images and bold, frenetic designs, are born of a profound engagement with her Yemenite heritage, the rich artistic traditions of her forebears, and a thoroughly contemporary sensibility”.
“Artistically, Kehati combines reproductions of clippings from popular cultural media, such as newspapers, movie flyers, and textbooks. Starting with a smaller-scale image, the work is transferred to a larger format using digital processes. Then, on the canvas with its jumbled typography of Anglo, Asian, Hebrew, and Arabic fonts and its fragmented imagery, she adds “paint, varnishes, gold leaf, sand, glues, and all sorts of other materials,” until the different parts are tightly interwoven, like a tapestry. The colors she paints are wildly untamed, beyond decorative, a cacophony of atonal scales, more musical than visual”.
If you have any quistion please ask, i'll be happy to answer.
