Prior to 2004, I had no training or experience of any sort. My only creative mediums were those with which my traditional mother had acquainted me - cooking and sewing. In 2004, I received an e-mail advertisement from my employer, offering a Monart class for non-artists. Since I was teaching alternative students of whom a high percentage were artistically talented, I was attracted by this offer to bring art into my classroom. I immediately signed on and became hooked, and I am now greatly enjoying my new pastime.
Being a student of Linda Hansen and the Monart method, I believe that each stroke of the brush or pencil is meant to be. As the artist, it is my job to discover its purpose and to unify the strokes into a harmonious whole. My work is not laborious, and I do not seek exact realism.
I am pleased with the opportunity to share what I have done, and hope that it brings meaningful pleasure to you, as it does to me. |
